On March 24, 2025, Barry J. Marshall, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, renowned Australian medical scientist and microbiologist, and Professor of Clinical Microbiology at the University of Western Australia, visited Capital Normal University upon invitation and delivered an exceptional academic lecture for faculty and students.
 

Professor Marshall, an eminent figure in the international medical community, was elected as a Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2011, awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2015, and honored with the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China in 2024. He is globally celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) research, which have fundamentally transformed the understanding of the pathogenesis of gastric diseases, including peptic ulcers and gastric cancer.
